On-Campus Immersions

Students will complete four on-campus immersions in the first year of the program, two in the first term, and one in each of the following terms. During these immersions, students will participate in clinical simulations, professionalism training, and learn hands-on skills such as sterile technique, suturing, splinting and casting. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with their faculty mentor to ensure that each student is receiving the support that they need. Clinical students will return to campus toward the end of their final term for graduation preparation and summative exams.

Clinical Year Excellence

The OBU PA Program maintains a network of clinical sites across the United States. While the program attempts to place students within or near their home geographic location, placement within a specific area cannot be guaranteed. Clinical placement decisions are informed by multiple factors such as core rotation requirements, site availability, and each student's academic needs. The Director of Clinical Education and clinical education team determine optimal placement for every rotation, prioritizing the clinical setting most likely to support student clinical competency and meet program requirements.

Students may be required to travel from their home to sites anywhere within the United States for any or all of their supervised clinical practice experiences. In the event the program is unable to secure adequate rotation sites within a student's home geographic location, students will be required to travel to available sites regardless of distance. Students are not required to secure their own rotation sites.

All travel, housing, parking costs and related personal expenses incurred during clinical rotations are the responsibility of the student.

If students experience any unsafe parking practices at a medical facility, please notify the clinical team immediately. Students are not to charge any meals to hospital accounts, as the PA program does not have any accounts at any hospitals.
