Local Outreach

We are pleased to share the following opportunities to serve the needs of others locally. For more information on how to get involved in one of these local ministries, contact the Global Outreach Center.

Age2Age

This is a wonderful avenue to bridge the gap between the elderly and the young. Age2Age meets to both visit and worship with residents of local nursing homes. It meets Tuesdays @ 3:30pm at Primrose Retirement Home (follow @age2age.obu)

Hope House

This your opportunity to spend time at a temporary youth shelter in Shawnee. You will read, play, and hang out with youth and children in a high-risk situation. Gathers on Mondays @ 6pm in the lower GC.

Mission Exchange

Through this ministry, you will travel to OKC and impact the lives of others through games, Bible stories, and sharing hope with children in downtown OKC. This group meets Fridays @ 5pm by the clock tower.

Spero Project

This project serves the needs of refugees as they adjust to life in the United States. Activities include tutoring in conversational English, helping with basic needs, and sharing the love of Christ in the context of relationships. Contact global.outreach@okbu.edu for more information.

On the Ground

This is a  ministry committed to connecting with other local efforts to help those in need. We desire to serve within the context of Shawnee and represent Christ while growing in community with one another. Contact global.outreach@okbu.edu for more information.

Cargo Ranch

Did you know you can impact the lives of youth in Shawnee through horsemanship? Anyone can get involved in this gospel-centered ministry which includes mentorship, horsemanship, and maintaining or improving the facilities. Meets Tuesday evenings 4pm and/or 5:30pm.

Prayer for the Nations

Come together with other OBU students to pray for our campus and for the nations to be reached with the gospel. We meet every night at 10pm in the GC Gathering Room.

Project:Safe

This important project helps provide support and advocacy for women at a shelter in Shawnee who have experienced domestic violence. Contact global.outreach@okbu.edu for more information.
