Science of Reading Microcredential
This microcredential prepares educators to teach reading using research-based methods aligned with the Science of Reading. Through three courses, participants learn the key components of reading—phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—and how to support diverse learners, including English learners and students with dyslexia. The program includes training in literacy assessments and targeted intervention strategies, along with a 25-hour clinical field experience. Badge holders will be trained in the Science of Reading (SoR), meeting Oklahoma state requirements for teacher candidates and current educators (HB 362; Strong Readers Act). They will be equipped to apply science-based literacy instruction in their own classrooms.
