OBU Theatre to Host 24-Hour Theatre Fundraiser Jan. 24

OBU Theatre will present its spring 24-Hour Theatre Fundraiser on Saturday, January 24, featuring original student-produced short plays created and staged in just one day.

Tickets are $1 at the door. Performances will begin at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the spring production of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by helping purchase equipment and supplies.

Students and volunteers will meet on Friday at 6 p.m. and spend the next 24 hours writing, casting, directing, producing, and rehearsing original 10- to 15-minute plays. The completed works will be performed for a live audience on Saturday evening.

OBU Theatre will also present “Midsummer Night’s Dream” from Thursday, April 16, through Sunday, April 26. Evening performances will be held Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $10, and student tickets are $5 with a valid student ID.

Students interested in pursuing theatre academically can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, a Bachelor of Science in Education – Theatre Education, or a Minor in Theatre through OBU’s Division of Communication Arts.
