Biography

Dr. Jett is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University; his degree was in Biology. He went on to earn his Masters and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, he joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. In 1998 he accepted a full-time teaching position at Oklahoma Baptist University where he has been a professor of Biology for 23 years. His expertise is in medical microbiology, immunology and bacterial pathogens. He now holds the James Hurley Professorship in Biology and has been awarded both OBU’s Promising Teacher Award and Outstanding Teacher award. He has more than 30 published scientific journal articles and book chapters, and his most recent work was to co-author an immunology textbook. At OBU he is a Pre-Med and Pre-Graduate School advisor. He is a deacon at University Baptist Church. Dr. Jett and his wife Teresa live in Shawnee. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Hannah.
