OBU Faculty Hall of Fame 2026 Inductees Recognized
April 29, 2026
OBU honored two esteemed faculty members during the 2026 Awards Chapel on Wednesday, April 29. This year’s inductees, Don Clark (music) and Robbie Henson (nursing), were recognized for their profound impact on the university and their enduring contributions to their respective fields.
The ceremony, held in the Recreation and Wellness Center on the OBU campus, celebrated the educators’ legacies and lasting influence on Bison Hill.
Dr. Don Clark
Clark was honored for his dedication to teaching, his Christlike example and his deep investment in students’ lives and musical development.
He served as a voice professor and student adviser, guiding students through years of study, lessons and recitals. During that time, he influenced generations of students through his encouragement, mentorship and unwavering commitment to their growth as musicians and individuals.
Jerry Billingsley, a former student, shared his appreciation.
“He was one of my life heroes,” Billingsley said. “Dr. Don Clark was my voice professor for all four years at OBU. I had lessons with him at least twice a week during those years and performed three voice recitals in that time. He loved me and invested in me. Many times I sat in his studio and told him I was ready to quit, but he always talked me out of it.
“He was very talented as a performer in his own right, but I honestly feel that he took more pride in his students’ performances. He had a heart bigger than his smaller frame. I loved him, respected him and will cherish his memory.”
Dr. Robbie Henson
Henson was recognized for outstanding teaching, mentorship and decades of service shaping the next generation of nurses.
Over a career spanning more than 31 years, she served as nursing faculty, mentor and adviser and held the Lawrence C. and Marion V. Harris Chair of Nursing. She received recognition from the National League for Nursing as a Certified Academic Nurse Educator and was named Oklahoma Nurse Educator of the Year. She also received OBU’s Promising Teaching Award and Distinguished Teaching Award.
Henson played a key role in guiding students and mentoring faculty, leaving an enduring mark on OBU’s nursing program.
Dr. Lepaine Sharp-McHenry, a former OBU dean of nursing who worked with Henson, reflected on Henson’s legacy.
“Dr. Henson has impacted the lives of hundreds of nursing students, mentored many faculty and served as adviser on numerous thesis projects,” Sharp-McHenry said. “She exemplifies the type of faculty member who has helped make OBU the higher education institution it is today. Her dedication, commitment and countless sacrifices are worthy of this honor.”
The OBU Faculty Hall of Fame was established in 2010 and recognizes individuals who exemplify high standards of teaching and uphold the university’s mission through outstanding service to students and the advancement of OBU.
