Oklahoma Baptist University’s MS-SLP Program Receives National Accreditation Candidacy

March 11, 2026

OBU has been awarded Candidacy Accreditation Status for its Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

The CAA is the national accrediting body for graduate programs in speech-language pathology and audiology. Candidacy status is a significant milestone that recognizes OBU’s MS-SLP program as meeting rigorous national standards for graduate education in speech-language pathology.

Programs with candidacy status are considered accredited by the CAA. As a result, students enrolled in OBU’s MS-SLP program are eligible to take the national Praxis examination, apply for state licensure and pursue the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.

CAA accreditation serves several critical purposes, including promoting excellence in the preparation of future speech-language pathologists, protecting the public by recognizing programs that meet or exceed national standards and driving continuous improvement through ongoing self-evaluation and external review.

OBU’s MS-SLP program will prepare compassionate, competent clinicians to serve children and families through evidence-based practice and hands-on clinical training. The innovative, hybrid, accelerated program is designed to support students as they pursue their calling as speech-language pathologists.
