November 5, 2018

President and CEO of The Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research and The Lynn Health Science Institute Karen Vinyard Waddell delivered the 2018 Minter Lecture on Monday, Nov. 5. OBU hosted the lecture in Tulsa Royalties Auditorium, located inside Bailey Business Center on campus in Shawnee.

Waddell titled her lecture, “Taking Life to the Next Level,” and gave insightful ways to apply good, Christian character to the business world.

“My job as a CEO is to help everyone in my company, period.” Waddell said.

The Lynn Institutes are working to serve the Oklahoma City area by offering clinical trials. They have conducted more than 800 studies and currently have 165 active studies. The Lynn Institutes are Oklahoma’s largest, independent multi-therapeutic clinical research trials organization. The non-profit side of The Lynn Institutes was created in 2014 with a goal of helping the OKC community in health research and planning.

“Wherever you wind up in your career, every community is your priority,” Waddell said.

The Minter Lectureship in Business, Leadership and Christian Ministry is intended to add a sound understanding of the business world to the educational experience of church ministry majors to broaden their ability to minister effectively. The Minter Lectureship was underwritten by 1940 OBU graduate Lloyd G. Minter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The annual series began in 1991.
