Homecoming Chapel to Feature Dilbeck, Award Recipients

Dr. Hance Dilbeck will address OBU alumni and friends at the OBU Homecoming Chapel, Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m., in Raley Chapel. Dilbeck is pastor of Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. The public is invited to attend the service.

During the chapel service, the OBU Alumni Association will recognize the 2012 Profile in Excellence Award recipients. They include Jennifer Cloyd, Joel Engle, Col. Gordon Groseclose, Dr. John R. Hughes, Tom Jordan, Jami Smith, Dr. James R. Webb Jr. and John V. Young.

Also honored will be the 2012 Faculty Hall of Fame inductees: Manoi Adair, Dr. Laura Crouch and Mary Kay Parrish.

Dilbeck earned a bachelor's degree from OBU in 1987. He has served at Quail Springs Baptist Church since April 2003. He previously served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Ponca City, Okla., for more than seven years. Dilbeck attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a master's degree in 1992 and a doctorate in 2002. He has been the featured preacher for Falls Creek Youth Camp, chairman of the Board of Trustees at OBU (2001), and currently serves as a trustee at Southwestern Seminary. In summer 2012, he taught at the OBU Pastors School on Bison Hill.

He and his wife, Julie, a 1987 alum, have three sons: D.H., a 2010 OBU graduate; Dax, an OBU junior; and Leighton.

Cloyd, a 1983 OBU graduate, is director of Promise House of Arkansas Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries. She earned a master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987. Promise House is a maternity program for pre-teen and teenage girls and their families which provides food, shelter, education and medical care during pregnancy.

Engle, a 1990 graduate, is lead pastor of The Exchange church in Keller, Texas, and a national recording artist. After college, Engle traveled, performing music for concerts, church events and youth meetings, singing to more than 200,000 people each year. He and his wife, Valerie Gaser Engle, a 1992 alum, have four children: Elizabeth, Evelyn, Elaine and Ethan.

Groseclose, a 1976 graduate, earned a master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a master's degree in strategic studies at the U.S. Army War College. He serves as command chaplain for the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command in Fort Belvoir, Va. He and his wife, Deborah J. Frellick, a 1976 alum, have two children, Angela and Micah.

Hughes, a 1963 alum, attended dental school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, graduating in 1966, and Boston University's Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry, graduating in 1983. He is the founder of Southern Arizona Endodontics in Tucson, Ariz. For the past 13 years, he has spent a week each March with college students ministering to the residents of Ensenada, Mexico. He and his wife, Thompson, have three children.

Jordan, a 1970 alum, earned a master's degree from Duquesne University. He teaches in the music department at Northern Kentucky University. He designed and implemented the Computer Lab for Music, and he teaches broadcast students the audio curriculum in the College of Informatics. He and his wife, Geneva (Lomax) Jordan, '71, have two daughters, Cara and Melanie.

Smith, a 1993 graduate, is known throughout the world for her musical ability, leading worship for churches, conferences, schools and retreats, as well as having recorded a multitude of albums. Smith and her husband, Justin King, have two children, Emory and Griffin. She and her family attend Bridgeway Community Church in Oklahoma City.

Webb Jr., '95, is a board-certified musculoskeletal radiologist who specializes in treating patients with painful vertebral compression fractures at Musculoskeletal Imaging of Tulsa. He was the first physician in Tulsa to perform spinoplasty and structural kyphoplasty. He also pursues singing and songwriting. He and his wife, Tiffany (Murrey) Webb, '96, have two children, Lola and Zane

Young, a 1956 graduate, serves as a copy editor at The Tulsa World. His journalism career also has included jobs at United Press International in Dallas and Kansas City, The Sapulpa Herald and The Tulsa Tribune. Young was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 2006. He and his wife, Dru, are members of First Baptist Church, Tulsa. They have two children, Shawn Young and Sabrina (Young) Davis, a 1989 alum.
