Alum Calvin Miller Publishes 'Letters to Heaven'

February 28, 2012

In his latest book, "Letters to Heaven: Reaching Beyond the Great Divide," Miller expresses his love and admiration to people he considers influential who have preceded him into eternity.

Miller's letters are written in appreciation and admiration of many people, including some who are famous and familiar: C.S. Lewis, Oscar Wilde and Johnny Cash. He also writes heartfelt letters to his mother and other people who were personally close to him. The letters tell of his gratitude for the meaningful memories and lessons learned from inspirational people.

"This book is about seeing heaven as a place for wrapping up the unfinished business of earth," says Miller. "Beyond the grand gates, everything is resolved. Nothing is ragged at the edge; all the loose threads are tied up."

Miller's perspective is a timely reminder about how to live and love now. The result is a touching example of how people can articulate love and appreciation for the impact others have had on life and a reminder that it is never too late to utter words of gratitude.

A popular speaker, Miller is the author of more than 40 books including inspirational and theological volumes and children's poetry and literature. He is the bestselling author of the book "The Singer Trilogy," and he has almost 4 million books in print worldwide.

A 1958 OBU graduate, Miller earned his master's degree and doctorate at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been a pastor for more than 30 years. In 1999, he moved to Birmingham, Ala., with his wife, Barbara. He became professor of preaching and pastoral studies at Samford University's Beeson Divinity School, where he continues to teach today.

Published by Worthy Publishing, "Letters to Heaven: Reaching Beyond the Great Divide" is available for purchase on Miller's website as well as Amazon and other booksellers.
