OBU Plans Winter Bible Study Clinic

Oklahoma Baptist University will host a day-long clinic on the Winter Bible Study, "Studies in the Book of Genesis 1-12," from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 26, in the Geiger Center.

Dr. Kevin Hall, J.W. Hollums associate professor of religion, will lead the study, which surveys the theological riches of the Bible's opening chapters. Included in the study is a consideration of important theological themes, including God as creator and redeemer, God's relationship to the world and man, the power of God's word, the nature of faith and righteousness, and the cosmic significance of worship.

There is no charge for the clinic, but there is a $4.75 charge for the on-campus luncheon. That fee may be paid at the door.

The study also includes applications of these themes for contemporary issues. Practical suggestions for further study and teaching and preparation tips will be provided at the clinic.

Hall became OBU's specialist of the Old Testament in 1994. He teaches Hebrew as well as all upper-level Old Testament Bible courses. He is a graduate of Baylor University and received his master's and Ph.D. degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Before coming to OBU, Hall was a pastor in Texas and served as an adjunct professor at SWBTS for three years. In addition to his teaching duties, Hall now serves as a supply preacher and teaches at churches throughout the year. An active deacon at Shawnee's First Baptist Church, Hall served as chairman of the OBU Faculty Council in 2000-01.

He and his wife, Dee Dee, have three children, Brian, Bonnie and Bethany.
