The OBU Master of Arts degrees combine uncompromising academic rigor with unparalleled ministry relevance, providing learners and practitioners with foundational knowledge and specialized skills for ministry. Students may select an MA in Christian Studies in one of three tracks: Leadership, Apologetics or Biblical and Theological Studies.
MA in Christian Studies: Biblical and Theological Studies
This degree trains students to study the Bible and to understand Christian theology to equip them for ministry effectiveness and personal spiritual growth. Designed for current and future ministry leaders, Bible study teachers, and anyone who desires a deepened understanding of Scripture and doctrine, this emphasis offers courses both online and in person.
MA in Christian Studies: Leadership
Students learn foundational biblical and theological knowledge, equipping them to lead effectively in ministry. Courses prepare students for contemporary, biblical leadership in the face of challenges involving staff, congregations and volunteers. Whether you are a pastor; an associate pastor; a minister of music, education, or missions; or even an active layperson, this track will equip you to lead the church or support those who do.
MA in Christian Studies: Apologetics
Students learn to defend the faith from some of the best scholars and practitioners of apologetics in the nation. This degree prepares learners to defend the Christian faith in a winsome and compelling manner. Students learn how to study scripture; analyze culture; and apply biblical, theological, and philosophical understanding to develop a reasonable defense of the Christian faith.
Integrated MA
Through an integrated program, OBU provides the opportunity for undergraduate students from all disciplines to begin work toward a Master of Arts in Christian studies or Master of Arts in intercultural studies while completing a bachelor's degree at OBU. Through the program, students from any academic discipline can pursue completion of both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree within approximately six years.
