Supporting Our International Community

Bison Welcome Baskets

As we welcome students from other nations, there is an ongoing need for contributions to our Bison Welcome Baskets. This includes our new international students, Missionary Kids (MKs), and Third Culture Kids (TCKs) that come from abroad to study at OBU!

Since these students can only bring limited items for the school year in their luggage, we seek to ease their transition and provide support from our OBU community by giving them a Bison Welcome Basket when they first arrive on Bison Hill. In this gift, we like to include bedding, toiletries, a laundry basket and detergent, items to make dorm life easier, and basic school supplies. When possible, we also provide international students with a Bible in their native language.

By offering Bison Welcome Baskets, OBU is extending a heart and hand of hospitality to these new students. It is a practical and meaningful way to demonstrate the love of Christ.

Bison Hosts

Bison Hosts is a program that provides individuals and families within our local community the opportunity to meet and host OBU international students, MKs, and TCKs. An invitation into your home is an opportunity to cultivate a supportive relationship with these students during their time on Bison Hill.

Incoming and returning international and American students who have families abroad sometimes need a place to go during breaks and holidays because they are unable to return home for various reasons. These students also just need an opportunity to get off campus to enjoy a home-cooked meal.

If you are interested in being a Bison Host, please contact our Director of International Students at international.office@okbu.edu.

We value your support and participation in these rewarding endeavors as we welcome new Future Shapers to our country and to our campus.
