OBU Theatre to present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” April 16-19, 23-26

The Oklahoma Baptist University Theatre program presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare. Performances will take place in the Sarkeys Black Box Theatre April 16-18, 23-25 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances April 19 and 26 at 2 p.m.
General admission is $10 and student admission is $5 with a valid student ID. Tickets may be purchased online at okbu.edu/theatre.
Royal marriages, secret elopements, chaotic play rehearsals and fairy hijinks all combine for a hilarious, fast-paced and easy-to-understand Shakespearean comedy. OBU’s one-act adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” features a cast of four men and four women who play kings, fairies, young couples and rude mechanicals. Directed by John Dement, associate professor and director of theatre, the production features OBU students both on stage and behind the scenes.
OBU Theatre’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” reflects the university’s emphasis on thoughtful artistic exploration, community engagement and preparation for professional and creative pursuits. Student performers and technicians contribute their talents while developing skills in storytelling, collaboration and stagecraft.
The ensemble includes Josie Watson, senior; Joshua McCleskey, senior; Elena Streett, senior; Hank Childress, senior; Cole Green, senior; Caleb Carlson, junior; Makenna Nine, freshman; and Madeline Klas, freshman. Each actor plays multiple roles.
The production crew includes Brianna Arledge, senior; Sierra Stanley, senior; Joshua Wideman, senior; Baylee Hulin, freshman; Lexus Bearpaw, freshman; Heaven Lewis, freshman; Josie Watson, senior; Joshua McCleskey, senior; and Reese Janik, junior.
