OBU to Host High School All-State Choir Prep Camp on June 27

April 30, 2026

OBU will host its High School All-State Choir Prep Camp on Saturday, June 27, offering student vocalists across the state an opportunity to refine their skills ahead of competitive auditions. Registration is open.

The one-day camp will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Ford Hall on the OBU campus and is designed to equip high school singers with focused instruction, practical techniques and confidence for the All-State choir selection process. Participants will engage in intensive rehearsals and receive guidance from experienced faculty in a collaborative setting that emphasizes both discipline and encouragement.

Dr. Joshua Chism, associate professor of music, choral and vocal at OBU, will lead the camp. Chism said the experience is structured to challenge students musically while also helping them grow as performers.

“We want students to leave better prepared, not just technically but with a deeper understanding of the music and the commitment it requires,” he said.

The cost is $25 per student and includes lunch and a camp T-shirt. Choir directors may register students as a group for $20 each and will receive a complimentary director T-shirt. Registration is open through June 12 and space is limited.

The camp will be held on OBU’s campus at 500 W. University in Shawnee. To register, visit okbu.edu/events/all-state-choir-prep-camp/ or contact the OBU School of Music at 405-585-4300 or music@okbu.edu.
