OBU to Host Generation Why Youth Apologetics Conference March 7

OBU will host its annual youth apologetics conference, Generation Why, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Recreation and Wellness Center on the OBU campus in Shawnee.

The conference is designed for middle school, high school and college students, along with youth groups and campus ministries, and focuses on equipping students to understand and articulate the Christian faith. The 2026 theme is “Finding Meaning Amidst the Chaos.”

The conference will feature nationally noted speaker and author Dr. Sean McDowell as the primary plenary speaker. McDowell is known for his work in Christian apologetics and worldview issues. Dr. Todd Fisher, Oklahoma Baptists executive director-treasurer, will also speak during a plenary session and share his personal testimony.

Breakout sessions will address a range of topics, including truth and meaning, technology and human identity, science and Christianity, Christ and culture, biblical apologetics, missions and evangelism, Christianity and morality, practical theology, spiritual formation, and world religions and cults.

Confirmed breakout speakers include Dr. Alan Noble, Dr. B.R. Dunk, Dr. Timothy Darr, Dr. Keith Hess, Dr. Chuck Baukal, Dr. Paul Inman, Dr. Jessica Rohr, Micah Lynn, Dr. Mario Melendez, Dr. Paul Sanchez, Dr. Todd Sanders, Kyle Opskar, Eric Hernandez, R.J. and Chrissy Stokes, Dr. Micah Meek, Aaron Hembree, Stephen Presley, Dr. Stephen Stallard, Dr. Jeff DeGiacomo, Erin Guleserian, Dr. Matt Kearns, Dr. Elbert Smith and Daniel Ray.

Check-in will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the Recreation and Wellness Center. The opening general session starts at 9 a.m. and will include worship led by the OBU Worship Team and a message from McDowell. Breakout sessions and lunch rotations will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The afternoon general session begins at 2 p.m., followed by dismissal at 4:15 p.m.
