Stephens Delivers Chapel Message Feb. 16

February 16, 2022

Dr. Jarrett Stephens, senior pastor of Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, delivered the OBU chapel message Feb. 16. The service took place in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium.

A native of Louisiana, Stephens earned a Bachelor of Arts in biblical studies and psychology from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He then completed a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He later earned a Doctor of Ministry from Liberty Theological Seminary.

He came to Champion Forest Baptist Church, one of the largest and most diverse churches in America, in January 2021. He has led the church to establish a residency program that trains and equips seminary students who are called to ministry. He also founded CF Connect, a ministry designed to help connect pastors to the church, to one another and to church planters from across the country for resourcing and encouragement.

He previously served as teaching pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. He serves on the boards of BridgeBuilders, Dallas Baptist University and the North American Mission Board. He is passionate about sharing the life-transforming message of the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the world, serving the least of these in the inner cities, raising up the next generation of Christian leaders and equipping churches to be on mission.

He is the author of two books, including his latest work, “The Always God: He Hasn’t Changed and You Are Not Forgotten,” released in 2021. His debut book, “The Mountains Are Calling: Making the Climb for a Clearer View of God and Ourselves,” was released in 2018. He and his wife, Debbie, have four daughters: Riley, Kelsey, Cameron and Landry.
