CAB to Host ‘Spring Affair Awards’ Variety Show April 17

April 14, 2021

OBU’s Campus Activities Board will present the 2021 edition of Spring Affair Saturday evening, April 17, in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium. The “Spring Affair Awards” show kicks off at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. The event will be ticketed with a maximum attendance capacity of 325 people in order to maintain physical distancing.

Spring Affair is an annual OBU tradition. It is a campus variety show where audiences may anticipate an evening of fun and laughter, while enjoying skits and performances by the University’s talented student body.

The theme of this year’s event, “Spring Affair Awards,” will transport the audience into the world of a Hollywood awards show, through staging, emcee skits and performances. Audience members are encouraged to dress up for the event in formal attire, or as close as they can get to it, as if they were strolling the red carpet for the Academy Awards or the Grammys.

Students auditioned to be either emcees or to perform as acts in the show. Emcees for “Spring Affair Awards” include Janai Albertson, Miranda Toland, Jackson Drakulich, Caleb Corff and Rayann Williams. Acts and performers for the show include “Laura/Rachel,” Colton Martin, “Nathan’s BDay Band,” Layne Grady, “Caylin/Tyler,” and “J.P. Edward Flat Band.”

Campus Activities Board (CAB) is an organization that seeks to serve the university community by sponsoring numerous entertainment activities throughout the year, all with the intent to facilitate campus community. Annual activities include three talent and variety shows: Freshman Follies, Biggie and Spring Affair. Other smaller events include Kerr Old Fashioned Christmas, Kids' Christmas and Lodge of Love.

Tickets for “Spring Affair Awards” are free but are required for entrance into the show. They may be picked up on a first-come, first-served basis in GC 101.
