A “Spring Affair to Remember” Promises an Unforgettable Evening at OBU April 22

April 18, 2017

Oklahoma Baptist University’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) is proud to present “A Spring Affair to Remember,” April 22, in Raley Chapel’s Potter Auditorium. The show begins at 8 p.m. and doors open at 7:30. The free event is open to the OBU community as well as the general public.

A “Spring Affair to Remember” embodies the theme of “all things movies.” The decor and style of the show will be heavily based on classic, 50s era Hollywood. As for the rest of the show and music, anything and everything movie related will be involved.

The production is under the direction of seniors Lauren Ledbetter and Lauren Morgan.

This is the first time for both of us to direct a show,” Ledbetter said. “While we've both been very active in shows up until now, managing crews and helping with various aspects, directing is definitely a more extensive process. The experience has overall been a great one. We're able to work with all kinds of people and talent which is a wonderful opportunity. It's definitely an involved position, with a lot of moving parts to manage, but we're so excited to see the show come together.”

CAB sponsors three major talent and variety shows each academic year: Biggie, Freshman Follies and Spring Affair. Biggie is hosted near the beginning of the school year and is reserved for upperclassmen presenters. Freshman Follies showcases freshman talent each fall, and Spring Affair is open to all students. Acts and emcees must audition for each show and are selected by members of CAB.

Five emcees were selected to create and present several skits throughout the show which will complement the performances of both the stage band and the featured acts. This year’s emcee entourage includes Olivianna Calmes, Ashley Hontz, Audrey Rose, Landon Rowlett and Anna Tyler.

The night’s musical entertainment will feature the University’s student-comprised stage band and seven musical acts. Abi, Abigail and Misael will sing “You’re the One that I Want,” while Ryan Berry will perform “You Belong to Me.” Blake & Syd will sing “Thinkin Bout You,” while The Ship will perform the original song “Ashamed.”

Letters from Verona will sing “Check Yes Juliet.” The 210 Collective will perform “Photograph” and The Bodygards will sing the classic “I Will Always Love You.”

The audience can expect an immersive, movie-loving experience; from classic Hollywood decor, to soundtrack songs galore, from skits pulling from all kinds of movie genres, to impressive OBU talent. With a few surprises along the way, this will be definitely be a Spring Affair to remember.
