Deem Delivers Lecture During OBU Business Forum Oct. 17

October 18, 2016

OBU alumnus Adam Deem delivered the lecture during OBU’s Business Forum event Monday, Oct. 17. Deem graduated from OBU with a double major in finance and marketing. He is a partner and registered investment advisor with Teaktree Capital Management in Fort Worth, Texas.

While a student at OBU, he, along with co-owners Dick and Cody Deem, opened Deem’s Bean Scene just down the street from campus. The coffee shop was a popular hangout for students and for the Shawnee community from 1992 when it opened until they sold the business in 1997. The idea for the coffee shop came from a project in one of his marketing classes.

After selling the business, he moved to OKC and ultimately to Fort Worth, Texas, where he then earned an MBA from Texas Christian University. He soon went to work for Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor.

In 2009, after a successful career at Merrill, he and a co-worker started their own financial planning and investment firm, Teak Tree Capital Management, LLC. Having experienced extraordinary growth, he and his partner now serve more than 300 families and are responsible for more than $300 million in assets.

Deem is a husband, father, tennis player, and mentor. His wife, Adrianne, is a physician, and they have two young children, AJ, 10, and Audrey, 7.
