OBU Recognizes 480 Years of Service

OBU hosted the 2016 Service Awards reception Tuesday, April 5, on the OBU campus in Shawnee. The annual event recognizes employees with milestone years of service. The university recognized 43 employees for a combined 470 years of service. The event was a come-and-go reception from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Dr. Warren McWilliams, Augie Henry professor of Bible, was recognized for 40 years of service.

Dr. Norris Russell, professor and chair, division of KALS, was recognized for 35 years of service.

Dr. Albert Chen, professor of physics, was recognized for 30 years of service.

Four individuals were honored for 25 years of service: Cynthia Gates, director of events, conferences, and camps; Dr. Robbie Henson, Lawrence C. and Marion V. Harris chair of nursing and associate dean of nursing; Tonia Kellogg, director of the executive offices; and Dr. Dan Reeder, Albert J. Geiger professor of finance.

Tara Colvin, endowed scholarship manager, and Ford Mastin, track coach and assistant professor of KALS, were recognized for 20 years of service.

Three individuals were honored for 15 years of service: Lisa Hair, groundskeeper/gardener, facilities management; Chele Marker-Cash, creative services coordinator; and Dr. Rich Rudebock, Robert L. & Sara Lou Cargill chair and professor of business.

Seven individuals were honored for 10 years of service: Terra Bogle, lead payroll coordinator; Deana Chesser, secretary to the dean of library services; Dr. Michael Dean, associate professor of music; Traci Franks, student financial services counselor; Dr. Keith Harman, Ernest C. Wheeler chair of business; Crystal McKee, director of development, annual operations and special events; and Deanna Spruiell, secretary, communication arts.

Those honored for 5 years of service included Dr. Tawa Anderson, assistant professor of philosophy and director of the Honors Program; Arika Bowles, public services librarian; Britton Buss, director of academic technology & creative communications; Dr. Bruce Carlton, professor of cross-cultural ministry and WMU professor of missions; Dr. Mary Chung, assistant professor of piano; Sharon Eulberg, secretary to the dean of students; Dr. Sam Freas, head varsity swimming & diving coach and professor of KALS; Jon Fuller, programmer/analyst; Dr. Ken Gabrielse, professor of music; Michael Wayne Hayes, HVAC Technician II; Dr. David Houghton, dean, Paul Dickinson College of Business; Gayla Jackson, residence facility officer – WMU Memorial Dormitory; Dr. Randolph Johnson, chair, division of music and assistant professor of music theory; Ronald A. Johnson, associate professor of digital media arts and production manager; Rhonda Jones, resident director of Kerr Dorm/Howard Residence Center & Apts./Midland Apts./East Devereaux Apts.; Sonia Jones, administrative assistant for events, conferences, and camps; Sandra Marquardt, data entry clerk; Dr. Sarah Marsh, assistant professor of mathematics; Linsey Mastin, secretary for KALS and CRSM; Nola Moseley, secretary, Herschel H. Hobbs College of Theology and Ministry; Jason Munoz, assistant volleyball coach; Dr. Renita Murimi, assistant professor of computer information science; Richard Smith, residence facility officer – Howard Residence Center; and Dr. Jeffrey Wells, associate professor of theatre and division chair of communication arts.
