Four Seniors Win OBU Athletics Awards

OBU Director of Athletics Robert Davenport presented the Outstanding Senior Male and Female Athlete awards. The Outstanding Senior Male and Female Athlete Awards are given each year to student athletes who have had exceptional careers at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Matt Page was named Outstanding Senior Male Athlete. He is an outfielder on the Bison baseball team from Redwood City, California, and is a sports management major. He is a two-time Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year, 2013 NAIA Player of the Year, 2013 NAIA All-American and 2014 Preseason All-American.

Jura Levy was named the Outstanding Senior Female Athlete. She is a sprinter on the track team from Trelawny, Jamaica, and is an interdisciplinary studies major. She is a two-time Most Valuable Performer on two NAIA national championship teams. She is an 11-time NAIA national event champion.

OBU Professor of History Dr. Carol Humphrey presented the Presidential Scholar / Athlete Awards. The Presidential Scholar / Athlete Award is given each year to the senior male and female athletes with the highest cumulative GPA.

Christa Humphreys was the female recipient of the Presidential Scholar / Athlete Award. She is a member of the cross-country team and is an interdisciplinary studies major from Guthrie, Oklahoma. She will graduate with the distinction summa cum laude.

Samuel Whalen was the male recipient of the Presidential Scholar / Athlete Award. He is a member of the cross-country team and is a finance major from Parachute, Colorado. He will graduate with the distinction summa cum laude.

Graduating seniors will participate in Spring Commencement Friday, May 16, in Raley Chapel's Potter Auditorium. Students graduate with the distinction summa cum laude for maintaining at least a 3.95 grade-point average.
