Lifeway Vice President Micah Fries Addresses Chapel

April 23, 2014

Fries challenged students to turn away from the mindset that God is satisfied by their performance in life, but rather, place dependence in God and his grace.

"Just as your lack of perfection does not change your status with Christ, so too, your efforts at personal holiness do not change your status with God," Fries said. "Our status with Christ is wholly dependent on his behavior in our place."

Fries attended The Baptist College of Florida in Graceville, Fla., where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in theology. Following graduation, he served as a church planter in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

He returned to the U.S. and completed a master of divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Fries served as senior pastor of Missouri Valley Baptist Church in Halls, Mo., and at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Mo.

He then joined the team at LifeWay and also serves as associate pastor for teaching and missions at Fairview Church in Lebanon, Tenn.
