Bison Glee Club Announces Spring Tour Dates

The Bison Glee Club will perform in concert at First Baptist Church, Muskogee, Okla., on Wed., March 5, at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 111 South 7th Street. For more information, call (918) 682-3496.

On Thursday, March 6, the group will perform at both Tahlequah High School at 8:30 a.m. as well as Go Ye Village Retirement Community in Tahlequah, Okla. at 10 a.m. That evening, the Glee Club will travel to First Baptist Church, Sallisaw, Okla., for a 7 p.m. concert. On Friday, March 7, the group will perform at 11:30 a.m. at Butterfield Place Retirement Community in Ft. Smith, Ark. That evening, they will perform at Concord Baptist Church in Van Buren, Ark., at 7 p.m. The church is located at 6105 Alma Highway. For more information, call (479) 632-4678.

On Sunday, March 9, the Glee Club will perform during the 10:30 a.m. service at Germantown Baptist Church in Germantown, Tenn. The church in located at 9450 Poplar Ave. For more information, call (901) 260-5757. That evening, they will perform at First Baptist Church, Cabot, Ark., at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 204 North Third Street. For more information, call (501) 843-5472.

The Bison Glee Club tour will conclude with a performance at Alma High School in Alma, Ark., on Monday, March 10.

The group will perform many selections during the tour including songs such as "Hallelujah, Amen," "Song of Peace," "If God Is For Us," "Betelehemu," "Loch Lomond," "The Music of Living," "O Susannah!" and many others.

Founded in 1938 by Warren M. Angell, former dean of the College of Fine Arts, the Bison Glee Club is an auditioned group of the finest male musicians on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University. The group has long been considered one of the premiere men's choruses in the Southwest and has toured extensively throughout the United Stated as well as in Canada, Europe and the Far East. Its annual season features a variety of performances including tour concerts, regular campus concerts, Homecoming Gala, Hanging of the Green, chapel events and numerous Oklahoma area appearances. They have also been featured as honor choirs for the Oklahoma Music Educators Conference and the Baptist Church Music Conference. The Bison Glee Club is under the direction of Dr. Brent Ballweg, director of choral activities.
