OBU Honors 573 Years of Service

Forty-seven faculty and staff members were honored during OBU's annual Service Awards Banquet April 2. Dr. Lana Bolhouse, dean of the College of Nursing, was honored for 40 years of service at the University as she prepares to retire at the end of the 2012-13 academic year. Also honored was retiree Dr. Eileen Hargrove, professor of mathematics, with 23 years of service. Hargrove served as an adjunct professor for two years before joining the OBU faculty in 1990.

Larry Walker, director of campus services, was honored for 35 years of service.

Four employees were honored for 30 years of service: Bobby Cox, head baseball coach and instructor of kinesiology and leisure studies; Tony Fitzgerald, auto mechanic and welder; Marcia McQuerry, registrar; and Teri Walker, degree counselor.

Those honored for a quarter-century of service included David Price, microcomputer technician, and Dr. Glenn Sanders, professor of history and chair of the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Four individuals were honored for 20 years of service, including Pam Fink, head softball coach and instructor of kinesiology and leisure studies; Dr. Bret Roark, professor of psychology and Ralph and Marie Barby chair of psychology; Dr. Pam Robinson, associate provost and dean of the College of Humanities and Social Science; and Richard Shannon, security corporal.

Those honored for 15 years of service at OBU included Dr. Brad Jett, who serves as James E. Hurley associate professor of biology; Dr. Jasmin Johnson, assistant professor of nursing; and Mike Manlapig, women's golf coach and assistant to the athletic director.

Four individuals were honored for a decade of service, including Karen Cotter, assistant professor of nursing; Lauri Fluke, assistant vice president for finance and administrative services; Walter Hughey, microcomputer and network technician; and Brad Humphrey, electrician.

Twenty-eight individuals were honored for five years of service at OBU, including Jennifer Barnett, instructor, Intensive English Program; Donna Barton, assistant director, Student Financial Services; Dr. Tonia Crane, assistant professor of education; Stephannie Davis, cashier; Dr. Vickie Ellis, associate professor of communication arts; Kerri Foster, assistant director, Recreation and Wellness Center; Dr. Carolyn Gregory, assistant professor of early childhood education; and Holly Hays, resident director of WMU Dormitory and assistant director of student activities.

Also honored for five years of service were Anna Howle, head volleyball coach; Dr. Terry James, assistant professor of education and interim director, Intensive English Program; Helen Lee, administrative assistant, Student Success Center; Dr. Louima Lilite, assistant professor of music; Dr. Jennifer McQuade, assistant professor of music; Melinda Newpher, student loan and collections manager; Amy Petty, contributions clerk; Andy Pope, microcomputer systems supervisor; Julia Pope, Academic Center assistant; and Amy Riggins, director, Recreation and Wellness Center.

Others honored for five years of service included Radonna Roark, assistant professor of French; David Shannon, chief, University Police; Rilda Smith, university counselor; Michelle Smothers, secretary, College of Business; Debbie Stephens, student financial counselor; Kenny Tisho, lead groundskeeper; Dr. Nicole Warehime, assistant professor of sociology; Valarie Watts, assistant professor of nursing; Michael White, head women's soccer coach; and Dr. Tony Yates, assistant professor of science.
