Stephens to Perform Senior Recital March 12

Stephens is a vocal performance major from Tulsa, Okla. The daughter of Philip and Mary Ann Stephens, she is from the studio of Dr. Jennifer McQuade, assistant professor of music. During the performance, Stephens will be assisted by Dr. Mary Chung, staff accompanist on piano and harpsichord; OBU student Morganne Garcia on trumpet; OBU student Victoria Smith on violin; OBU student Graham Jones on viola; OBU student Andrew Harper, tenor singer; and OBU student Emily Eubanks on flute.

The recital will include Stephens' performance of works by Bach, Caldara, Lori, Strauss, Mozart, Poulenc, Thomas, Idle and Bernstein.

During her time on Bison Hill, Stephens has been a member of University Chorale, Sigma Alpha Iota, David's Creed, Campus Activities Board, Fellowship of Christian Musicians and Stage Band. She has served as a Welcome Week Worker and Crew member. She has been named to the President's Honor Roll, served as a Junior Class Marshall and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma.

Stephens has been selected multiple times to perform in OBU's prestigious Concerto-Aria Concert. She was a soloist at the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma in 2010. She has completed master classes with Shirley Close and Deborah Williamson. She was a semi-finalist at Texoma NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing, Inc.) and a finalist and second-place winner at Oklahoma NATS.

She has performed as a soloist in Handel's "Messiah"; as Cinderalla in Sondheim's "Into the Woods"; as Laticia in Menotti's "The Old Maid and the Thief"; as Susanna in "The Marriage of Figaro"; as Fanchette in Offenbach's "The Lantern Marriage"; as Fiona in Lerner and Lowe's "Brigadoon"; and as Greta Fiorentino in Weill's "Street Latern Marriage."

The audience is cordially invited to a reception in Raley Chapel Room 142 immediately following the recital.
