Adams Earns Delta Mu Delta Scholarship

September 10, 2012

Adams, a 21-year-old junior from Oklahoma City, is pursuing a major in accounting. Adams is one of only four students to be inducted this year into OBU's Delta Mu Delta chapter. To be considered eligible for the chapter, Adams has maintained a grade point average of 3.38 or higher and sits in the top 20 percent of his class.

Other OBU students inducted into Delta Mu Delta for 2012-13 include Christie Clark, a senior from Frederick, Md.; Curtis Headrick, a senior from Sayre, Okla.; and Caleb Stogner, a senior from Gainesville, Texas.

Induction into Delta Mu Delta was only the first step in success for Adams. The honor society awarded scholarships to students through a rigorous application process which detailed the students' academic histories and distinctions. Applicants also were required to submit three letters of recommendation, one completed by an administrator.

"Rett is an outstanding student," said Dr. Rich Rudebock, associate professor of business, who noted the awards are competitive. "This scholarship will go a long way towards helping him accomplish his goals. We are very proud of him."

Adams said he first learned he had received the scholarship through an e-mail from Rudebock congratulating him on his achievement.

"Once I saw the proof, I was both very surprised and ecstatic," Adams said. "Without a doubt, I see this as a blessing from God, and I am so very thankful for how He has gifted me in my academic endeavors."
