Neighbors to Perform Senior Recital April 3

OBU student Tyler Neighbors will perform his senior recital Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.

Neighbors, a trombonist, is from Skiatook, Okla. He is the son of Matt and Darla Neighbors, and he is from the studio of Dr. Jim Hansford, conductor of the OBU-Shawnee Community Orchestra and retired professor of music.

Neighbors serves as band chaplain. During his time on Bison Hill, he has been named on OBU's Dean's Honor Roll. He was selected perform in the esteemed in Concerto-Aria Concert for two years. After graduation, he plans to enroll in clinical pastoral education.

The recital will include works by many different composers including: "Stars in a Velvety Sky," by Herbert L. Clark; "Rainy Day," composed by fellow OBU student Jonathan Hamrick; and "Intersession Metre," by Curtis Olson.

Neighbors also will perform "Sonata for Trombone and Piano," by Eric Ewazen; "Silence of the Night," by Sergei Rachmaninoff, assisted by Jonathan Hamrick and Dr. Louima Lilite; and "Sonata for Bass Trombone," by Patrick McCarty. "Prayer of the Children," by Kurt Bestor, will be performed with an ensemble of OBU students.

The recital will conclude with "Achieved is a Glorious Work," by Franz Haydn, featuring Neighbors, Hansford, Griffin Maxwell and Mason Phillips.

The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the recital.
