Hunter Recital to Feature Show Tunes

March 22, 2011

With a nod to songs written for Broadway musicals, OBU student Kat Hunter will perform her junior recital Sunday, March 27, at 2 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel. The community is invited to attend.

Hunter, a soprano, is from Owasso, Okla. She is the daughter of Mike and Cindy Hunter. She is from the studio of Dr. Louima Lilite, assistant professor of music, who will accompany her during the performance.

The recital will include "Do I Hear a Waltz?" by Richard Rogers and Stephen Sondheim, from the musical by the same name, and "Not a Day Goes By," by Sondheim, from "Merrily We Roll Along." It also will include "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," by Andrew Lloyd Webber, from "The Phantom of the Opera"; "Adelaide's Lament," by Frank Loesser, from "Guys and Dolls"; and "Green Finch and Linnet Bird," by Sondheim, from "Sweeney Todd."

OBU student Sean Muzljakovich will join Hunter on "Anything You Can Do," by Irving Berlin, from "Annie Get Your Gun." Her recital will conclude with "My White Knight," by Meredith Willson, from "The Music Man."

During her time on Bison Hill, Hunter has been a member of OBU's Bisonette Glee Club, where she serves as historian and librarian. She has performed in OBU's Opera Scenes and talent shows and Shawnee Little Theatre's production of "Into the Woods." She recently played Sadina in "Androcles and the Lion," produced by OBU Theatre for Young Audiences. She is also involved in Anna's Prayer, and she serves as the head photographer for the OBU Yanseh Yearbook staff.

The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the recital.
