OBU Fares Well in National Cost Report

According to a recent national report on college costs, OBU's current tuition and fee total is less than 70 percent of the national average for four-year private institutions.

"Trends In College Pricing 2010" was released by The College Board in fall 2010. The report lists the average tuition and fees for a four-year private institution at $27,293. The average for colleges and universities in the southwest region is $23,853. OBU's 2010-11 tuition and fees, before consideration of any financial aid, total $18,670.

"We compare very favorably to other private colleges in our nation and across the region," said Bruce Perkins, OBU director of admissions. "While the basic numbers are positive, we also know that 99 percent of OBU's students receive some form of financial aid each year, which helps to make our cost an even greater value."

The College Board is a not-for-profit association with a stated mission to "connect students to college success and opportunity." The 110-year-old board includes more than 5,700 member schools, colleges, universities and other educational organizations. The College Board administers SAT, PSAT, Advanced Placement programs and other nationally recognized services.

OBU has been recognized for quality by three national organizations this fall. The university was ranked second among comprehensive colleges in the west in the 2011 U.S. News & World Report list of "America's Best Colleges." Forbes.com listed OBU as the state's top university in its 2011 ranking of "America's Best Colleges." The Princeton Review named OBU one of 120 "Best in the West" institutions for 2011.
