Three Join Bison Hill Staff

April 23, 2009

Three people have joined Oklahoma Baptist University's staff during the January and spring semesters. New staff members on Bison Hill include Rachel Hawkins, Billie Tanner and Dennis Traxler.

Tanner has served as a data entry/cashier in the OBU Business Office since Feb. 2. A native of Prague, for the past 16 years Tanner has lived in Newcastle, Okla., and worked in Oklahoma City. She previously worked for an oil and gas company for 17 years, and she has worked in real estate for three years.

"My husband, who continues to work out of Midwest City, grew up in Shawnee, so the move back to this area brings us both closer to family," Tanner said.

Hawkins joined the staff as a reference and instructional librarian in OBU's Mabee Learning Center April 6. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) and a master's degree in library and information studies from the University of Oklahoma.

A native of Mountain View, Okla., Hawkins lived in Weatherford, Okla., for several years before moving to Shawnee. She previously worked at SWOSU's Al Harris Library as a library technician.

Traxler has been working at the OBU Recreation and Wellness Center since Jan. 15. He currently serves in a maintenance role.
