President Whitlock Welcomed to Bison Hill

November 3, 2008

Oklahoma Baptist University welcomed Dr. David W. Whitlock to Bison Hill for his first day in office as the university's 15th president Monday, Nov. 3.

A group of students, faculty and staff gathered to show their excitement for Whitlock's arrival by welcoming him to his office Monday morning. Among the crowd, people were wearing shirts with the statement "Dave's My Fave" and a picture of the new president as well as waving signs stating "Whitlock for President." Whitlock told the group that Dr. Bob Agee, OBU's 13th president, told him he was going to a great place and said he "already feels at home at OBU."

Whitlock was elected OBU's 15th president on Oct. 10 by the university's board of trustees. His tenure follows the 12-month tenure of John W. Parrish, who served as OBU's interim president following the retirement of Dr. Mark Brister in November 2007.
