Oklahoma Baptist University catcher Jayme Boyer has been named ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District VI First-Team College Division catcher.
Boyer, who holds OBU's game, season and career home run records, was named All-Sooner Athletic Conference for a third straight season. The junior from Shawnee tied the NAIA record with three home runs in a game. She hit .369 for the season with and broke the career record with her 89 walks.
Last season, Boyer was Diamond Sports NAIA Catcher of the Year and Co-Player of the Year in the SAC and NAIA Region VI, as well as a first-team All-American.
"Jayme gets headlines for her ability on the field, but she has worked every bit as hard in the classroom," said coach Pam Fink. "She is the embodiment of what you want in a student athlete."
Boyer is an English education major.
With the All-District award, Boyer is now in the running for the college-level Academic All-America award with seven other players from around the nation.
Those seven are Jenna Peters of Fort Lewis College, Cailtin Mastenbroek of Pacific, Mallory Paine of Lewis, Kari Hoyings of Muskingum, Catherine Beuerle of Shenandoah, Kristy Rausch of Fairmont State and Ariana Mullin of Trinity.
