Fueled by Mark Richards' first round 70, Oklahoma Baptist leads the Bison Invitational after the opening round Monday by two strokes.
Thirteen was a lucky number for the Bison, who had four of five golfers birdie the 13th hole.
Richards birdied holes one, four and 13 to post the lone sub-par round of the day. Jason Carpenter is in third place at 73, after firing birdies on holes one, 11 and 13.
Alex Hamilton is in fifth place with a 74. He birdied holes eight, 13 and 17.
Arnaud Cotton is in 23rd place at 78 with a lone birdie on 13. Zac Rawls is 27th with a 79. Also for OBU, Michael Allen is 33rd at 80 and Jeremy Foster is in 55th at 94.
As a team, the Bison are atop the leader board with a 295, followed by Missouri Valley at 297, Northwood at 300, Southwestern Kansas at 304, Seminole State at 306, William Woods at 314, Southern Nazarene JV at 315, Texas-Brownsville at 318, Northwestern Oklahoma State at 323, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 325 and Western Oklahoma at 358.
Southern Nazarene tops the women's standings at 332, followed by William Woods at 349, Dallas Baptist at 363, Southwestern Kansas at 364, Northwestern at 366, OBU at 375, Seminole State at 376 and Panhandle State at 441.
Laura Cummins is in sixth for the Lady Bison with an 88, followed by Cierra Boone in 10th at 89. Molly Moore is in 19th place with a 92, while Heather Brown is 36th at 106.
The tournament, being hosted by Shawnee Country Club, concludes Tuesday. The shotgun start Tuesday is at 8 a.m.
