LCU Completes Sweep of Bison, 11-6

March 1, 2008

OBU had 13 hits in the game, but couldn't contain the Chaparral offense.

Down 3-0, OBU made it a 3-1 game in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Frank Avilla. LCU jumped back out to a 6-1 lead with a three-run third.

OBU added a run in the bottom of the third when Kyle Cooper lifted an RBI double to center.

Lubbock Christian looked to be on its way to a run-rule, but was held just short of the 10-run lead, taking an 11-2 advantage in the top of the sixth with an inning still required to play, but Chase Jestice allowed just one run in relief and Jordan McCavitt shut the door for the final two innings.

OBU scored in each of the final four innings.

Chris Chambers scored on a Keith Johnson triple in the sixth and Christian Ruiz hit his fourth home run of the season in the seventh.

Ruiz singled home Johnson in the eighth and Chambers singled home Josh Collazo in the ninth.

Ruiz had three hits to pace the Bison, while Cooper, Collazo and Chambers had two each.

Now 16-4 overall and 6-3 in the SAC, the Bison host Dakota Wesleyan Monday at 2:30 p.m.
