Lady Bison Set Home Run Record in Win

Oklahoma Baptist completed its stay in the Mid-America Nazarene University Tournament with a bang - make that eight bangs - in two wins with 40 runs and 45 hits.

The Lady Bison slaughtered Dordt 25-2 and Park 15-9, launching eight home runs on the day, including a school-record seven in one game.

Every player in the lineup got at least two hits in the Dordt game. OBU got off to a 5-0 lead, gave up two runs in the bottom of the first and then blew up for 12 runs in the second inning and coasted home with two in the third, five in the fourth and one in the fifth.

The 12-run second included a grand slam by Jayme Boyer.

Brittney Day led the24-hit onslaught with four hits, including three doubles for five runs batted in. Jami Pate had two singles, a double and four RBI. Boyer had three hits, including a home run and a double, finishing with five RBI.

Brooke Stevens had a double and two singles and an RBI, Hillary Davis had two singles, a double and two RBI.

Kaley Dickerson had two singles and four RBI, Bobbi Day had a double and a single and three RBI and Vanessa Fortune had two singles and an RBI.

OBU then broke out the home run bats for a school-record seven home runs in the win over Park.

Boyer and Stevens launched three each, both tying a school record, and Brittney Day added her first of the season. That trio went back-to-back-to-back with home runs in the fifth inning. Boyer and Stevens also went back-to-back in the second.

Boyer was hit by pitches her final two times to the plate.

Stevens had four hits and four RBI and Boyer had six runs batted in. Brittney Day had four hits and one RBI.

Pate had three hits and an RBI, Bobbi Day had an RBI single and Fortune had three hits and three RBI.

Beach picked up the win.

OBU returns to at home Tuesday at 2 p.m. against Dakota Wesleyan.
