Chambers Walk-Off Tops No. 18 Bacone

March 24, 2008

Chambers' blast to right field was the lone home run struck in a game in which the wind was blowing out to left. It was his fourth home run of the season and ended what was otherwise an ugly game.

Four OBU pitchers issued a dozen walks in the game. Andrew Dickison gave up four walks, but no hits and kept Bacone scoreless for 2.2 innings after the Warriors had built a 6-1 lead. Jordan McCavitt (3-0) pitched a hitless and walkless 1.1 innings for the win in relief.

The Bison trailed 5-0 before getting on the board on a wild pitch in the third inning.

Down 6-1, OBU picked up two in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI walk to Keith Johnson and a run-scoring fielders choice by Josh Kirpatrick.

The Bison added three more to tie things up in the seventh. After a single by Kyle Cooper, Mason Reilly doubled to right center to make it 6-4. After Frank Avilla walked, Cody Lambeth ripped a two-run, two-out triple to right for the 6-6 score.

Chambers, hitless in his previous four at bats in the game, ripped a no-doubter over the right field wall off of Rick Sample (4-2) to end the game.

Billy Thomas and Cooper had two hits each in the Bison's seven-hit day.

Now 26-6, the Bison play at Rogers State Thursday.

Bacone dipped to 26-7 on the season
