Bison Score 48 in Sweep of Northwestern

OBU's Joshua Collazo had his home run streak stopped at six after homering in the first game and walking five times in the second.

Nine different OBU players hit home runs. The Bison in the opener got home runs by Christian Ruiz, Kyle Cooper, Mason Reilly, Collazo and Josh Kirkpatrick. Reilly, Chris Chambers, Keith Johnson, Whitt Barkley and Cody Lambeth homered in the second game.

The first game was in doubt for the first three or four innings. OBU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a leadoff home run by Ruiz and an RBI grounder by Collazo. Northwestern scored three in the bottom of the inning for a 3-2 lead.

OBU got the lead back, 4-3, in the third on a two-run bomb by Collazo. Northwestern answered with three more for a 6-4 lead after three.

Reilly delivered the lead back with a two-out grand slam in the fourth for an 8-6 advantage.

OBU blew it wide open with a 12-run fifth. The Bison got a sac fly by Cooper, an RBI hit by pitch from Chambers, a two-run single by Collazo, a three-run homer by Kirkpatrick, a two-run single by Billy Thomas, an RBI double by Christian Ruiz and a two-run home run by Cooper.

Chase Jestice (2-1) got the win.

Collazo and Frank Avilla had three hits each, while Ruiz, Cooper, Reilly and Kirkpatrick had two each.

The Bison trailed 5-0 after the first inning of the second game, but posted 10 runs in the second inning. Cooper had a two-run doubles, Reilly had a two-run single and Kirkpatrick had an RBI base hit before Johnson laced a grand slam. Ruiz singled home the 10th run of the inning.

OBU added three more in the third on an error, an RBI double by Johnson and a sacrifice fly by Frank Avilla.

Three more scored in the fourth on an RBI grounder by Chambers and two run-scoring wild pitches.

The Bison again erupted for a 12-run fifth. This time, Lambeth hit a grand slam, Barkley and Reilly had three-run home runs, Chambers had a solo shot and Avilla walked to force a run.

Brent Robison (3-0) picked up the win.

OBU got three hits from Johnson and Chambers to go with two each from Ruiz, Cooper, Reilly and Barkley.

Now 12-1 overall and 3-0 in the SAC, the Bison play at USAO Thursday.
