OBU Homecoming Features Alumni Showcase

Among the many festivities at Oklahoma Baptist University's Homecoming, the Alumni Showcase will be a presentation of talented OBU alumni representing an array of years. The event will be Saturday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m., Raley Chapel's Potter Auditorium.

Ryan Hitchcock, a 1991 OBU graduate, is the Alumni Showcase master of ceremonies. He will introduce the evening's performers, consisting of OBU alumni from the '70s through current OBU students.

Vocalist DeAnna Conditt Calhoun, '96, and pianist Danny Calhoun, '94, will perform his arrangement of "It Is Well With My Soul." Elizabeth Finch, '96, and Alicia Waggoner Olmstead, '96, will perform "The Prayer" by Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster.

Singing and playing guitar, Julianne Patty, '07, will perform her own written piece, "Room To Believe." Mark Garner, '86, will do a pantomime to Ray Steven's "Guitarzan."

Current OBU students Whitni Butler, Laura Ingram, Bethany Simmons and Taylor Weaver make up the group "Restored." They will perform The Beatles' "Let It Be."

Randy Holt, '81, will sing Rogers and Hammerstein's "The Surrey With the Fringe on Top" with his wife Mary Holt as accompanist. Mark Groves, '91, and Sarah Groves will perform "Do You Even Know Me Anymore" by Mark Shultz.

A trio of current OBU students, Claire Clifford, Mark Clifford and D.H. Dilbeck, will perform "Speak" by Nickel Creek.

The Showcase will conclude with a performance by "The Persimmon Hill Singers" a quartet of alumni including Walt Grady, '71, Michael Richardson, '66, Jim Runyan, '69, and Dr. Charles Sanny, '70.

Following the Showcase, OBU will crown its 2006 Harvest Court. Nominees for the senior superlatives include the following candidates:

For best all around man, the candidates are Coy Buckley, an international business major from Wellston, Okla.; Micah Jones, a computer science major from Alvarado, Texas; and Chris Sudduth, a biology major from Shawnee.

Candidates for best all around woman are Rebecca Dellinger, a nursing major from Denver, Colo.; Julia Ames, a nursing major from Olathe, Kan.; and Melinda Gore, a nursing major from Bartlesville, Okla.

Candidates for most servant-like man are Danny Perry, a nursing major from Chillicothe, Mo.; Brent Purkaple, a biblical languages major from Ponca City, Okla.; and Daniel Hunget, a psychology major from Ponca City, Okla.

Candidates for most servant-like woman are Marci Carpenter, a social science education major from Spring, Texas; Jane Owen, a communication studies major from Colleyville, Texas; and Christa Tjeerdsma, a biology major from West Des Moines, Iowa.

Candidates for Harvest King are Chris Peters, a family psychology major from Lawton, Okla.; Kevin Orsak, a public relations major from Mesquite, Texas; and John Powell, a nursing major from Sugar Land, Texas.

Candidates for Harvest Queen are Loren Eaton, an anthropology major from Rowlett, Texas; Holly Hays, a family psychology major from Monkey Island, Okla.; Ashley Barton, a business management major from Round Rock, Texas.
