OBU Splits at Newman

March 19, 2005

In game one, base runners proved to be few and far between, as the two teams combined for five total hits over seven innings. OBU's Brent Terrell matched Jet's starter Matt Ehmke pitch for pitch, in what proved to be a pitchers duel.

The Jet's finally broke through in the sixth inning for a single run which proved to be the difference. Terrell, the hard-luck loser for the Bison, was tagged with his first loss of the season and dropped his record to 5-1.

In game two, the OBU offense came alive as they pounded out 14 hits in an 11-0 run-rule win in the series finale. The Bison pushed across an early run in the second inning as Kip Keith laid down a safety squeeze bunt to score Danny Guidry from third.

Two innings later, OBU put a three-spot on the scoreboard highlighted by solo home runs from Felix Peguero and Adam Dalby.

OBU's big inning came in the top of the fifth as they put the game out of reach off of a couple of Jet's relievers. Guidry again found himself in the middle of the action as he tripled home a pair of runs, Dalby promptly plated Guidry to give the Bison a 7-0 advantage.

The onslaught continued as Eric Curry and Frankie Ibarra each laced RBI doubles. OBU starter Sean Dryden (4-1) collected the economic five inning win, allowing only one hit on 69 total pitches. In game two, Ibarra, Guidry, Dalby, Curry, and Nick Bakich all posted multiple hits.

The Bison finish the week 3-1 and push their overall season record to 22-7, 3-1.

OBU's next action is slated for a 1 p.m. home doubleheader Monday with Hastings University.
