OBU Rallies for Split in Alva

March 11, 2005

OBU dropped the first game in the extra innings, 6-5.

The Bison opened the nightcap with a two-run first inning on a two-run single by Rett Terrell, but the Rangers scored six times in the bottom of the first on four hits and two errors. Four of the runs were unearned.

But from there, OBU put the clamps on Northwestern. Sean Dryden pitched into the fifth inning, giving up four more hits while keeping the Rangers from scoring.

The Bison added a run in the second on a two-out RBI double by Frankie Ibarra. OBU cut the lead to 6-4 in the third on Adam Dalby's solo home run.

A five-run eruption in the sixth gave OBU the lead for good. Ibarra had another RBI double, Danny Guidry drew a bases-loaded walk and Dalby doubled home two runs. OBU added another run on Brad Miller's RBI ground out.

The Bison posted three more runs in the seventh on a two-run single by Guidry and an RBI single by Terrell.

Chad Rhoades picked up the win with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

In the opener, OBU scored five times in the top of the fifth to take a 5-2 lead. OBU got an RBI double by Isaac Romero, an RBI single by Miller, a sacrifice fly by Aaron Dickson, an RBI single by Ibarra and an RBI fielders choice by Felix Peguero.

Northwestern tied the game in the fifth. The teams were scoreless until the ninth. The Rangers used a pair of errors to get their leadoff man to third base. After a pair of intentional walks, Dustin Burdick singled home the game-winning run for NWOSU.

Brent Roberts took the unearned loss for OBU.

The same two teams square off Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Bison Field.
