Lady Bison survive overtime with Northwestern

OBU got a game high 17 points from Priscilla Alves who hit four of her seven attempts from three-point range. Kelli Welborn added two threes of her own in a 12 point performance. Tabetha Eaton and Schwarz were also in double figures with Eaton scoring 11 points and Schwarz scoring 10.

In the first half the Lady Bison used a 7-0 run to jump out to a 10-4 lead early in the first half. The Lady Rangers then closed the lead down to three at 12-9, but Schwarz put OBU back up by five with a lay up. After Northwestern got within one point at 16-15, Priscilla Alves started a 7-0 run as she nailed a 3. Schwarz added the next two goals with her second goal scoring her 1,000th point of her career. Jesse Sullivan helped OBU take its biggest lead of the first half by nine at 31-22.

In the second half the Lady Bison took a 12-point lead at 36-24 early in the half. Trena Robbins sparked a 6-0 run as OBU took their biggest lead of the night at 16 (42-26) with 14:41 left to play.

The Lady Rangers then went on a 10-0 run over the next 12:05 to cut the OBU lead to 42-36.

OBU took the lead back out to an 11 point lead at 51-40 after back-to-back lay ups by Shannon Plumb and Eaton.

Jackie Regan and LaTeai James brought the Lady Rangers within seven at 51-44 and then cut their deficit down to five at 54-49 with 5:56 left to play.

After Welborn hit a 3 to put OBU up 57-49, Northwestern went on a 6-0 run to pull within two at 57-55 with 3:34 to play.

James then cut the lead down to one before Erin Gross put the Lady Rangers on top for the first time since the 16:48 in the first half.

Eaton then put the Lady Bison back ahead when she drained a jumper with 1:18 left as OBU held a 60-59 lead.

Gross had a chance to put the Lady Rangers ahead with 29 seconds left in regulation, but missed the first of two free throws and hit the second to tie the game at 60.

OBU had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Eaton was forced into a jump ball with ball going to the Bison with six seconds left. Plumb missed a shot of the inbound play forcing the game into overtime.

In overtime Tabetha Eaton helped OBU take a one-point lead at 63-62 with 2:13 left to play. OBU never trailed again as OBU went on a 7-0 run, started by Eaton's lay up, to take a 68-62 lead with 52 seconds to play.

With the win OBU moves to 17-4 overall and 5-4 in the conference. Northwestern now is 7-14 on the year and 0-9 in the conference.
