Bison break three games losing streak at SNU

January 22, 2005

"We're just glad to pick up a win tonight," said Head Coach Doug Tolin. "Of the 60 games played on the road there have only been about four wins on the road, so anytime you win a game on the road in this league that's a huge plus."

The Bison win ends a three game losing streak in which OBU lost to Lubbock Christian, Wayland Baptist and Oklahoma Christian.

"Hopefully the ships been righted," said Tolin. "We played well tonight and picked up a nice win."

Robert Hart led all scorers with 17 points and dished out five assists. Leonard Mosley also added the Bison victory with 15 points. Bailey Jones was the only other Bison in double figures with 12 points and four rebounds. Eight of Jones' points came from the free throw line, as he was eight-for-nine.

"Leonard and Robert were the guys for us tonight," said Tolin. "We have to have great games from both of them every night. Leadership wise they were huge keys for us. Both of those guys played a lot of minutes tonight and did get a lot of rest."

Only the Diallo's were in double figures for SNU as Mouhamadou scored 15 points while Woury dumped in 13.

OBU moves to 2-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and 13-5 on the year. SNU drops to 2-5 in the conference and 12-9 overall.

In the first half OBU found themselves down 5-2, but went on a 7-0 run to take an early lead at 9-5 with 15:43 left in the half. Later in the half after Milroad Damjanac hit a jumper to put SNU up 20-19, Mosley sparked a 9-0 in which Hart drained a three, Jones hit a pair of free throws and Justin Benson capped off the run with bucket in the paint. After the run OBU stood in front 28-20 with two minutes left to play. Nick Pope closed out the half with a three pointer from the right wing to help OBU match its biggest lead of the half at eight with the score standing at 31-23.

Leonard Mosley led all scorers at the half with eight points.

In the second half OBU picked up where they left off in the first, as they extended their run out 11 straight points to take their biggest lead of the night at 39-23 with 16:58 left to play.

SNU then answered the Bison run with an 8-0 of run of their own to close the gap to eight at 39-31.

After Hart and Andrew Bryant took OBU's lead back to 12 SNU quickly cut the lead back to eight at 43-35.

The Crimson Storm got a close as three point with 7:14 left after a pair of Damjanac free throws, but OBU held on and pulled away for the Bison to end their road trip.

OBU next hosts John Brown Monday at 8 p.m. at OBU.
