OBU Theatre Presents

The performances will be located in the newly-renovated Craig-Dorland Theatre in Shawnee Hall. Performances on February 21, 22, and 28 and March 1 will take place at 7:30 p.m. and will be open to the public. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and $1 for children under 12 and may be purchased at the theatre box office.

The play, which takes place on a totem pole on the Northwest Pacific Coast, shows the characters acting out tales of mischief in order to prove themselves to one another.

The play introduces students to Anansi the Spider, played by junior Aaron Kelly, Reynard the Fox, played by junior Elise Tavary, Raven, played by junior Rose Bacorn and Nyame, played by freshman Lee Matthews. Anansi, Reynard and Raven engage in a battle to determine who is the champion of trickery.

Laura S. Byland, assistant director of theatre and founder of the Theatre for Young People, will direct The Mischief Makers. Byland received a bachelor's degree from Hiram College and master's degrees from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma.

Other crew member include senior Beth Kinney as stage manager, junior Matthew Packer as assistant stage manager and light designer and junior Joshua Cain as set designer. Bacorn will also serve as make-up designer and senior Cheryl Sartain Lowber will be the play's costume designer. All participants have a declared major in theatre.
