OBU Clarinetist Presents French Themed Concert

Oklahoma Baptist University will host a faculty recital Tuesday, February 12, with featured clarinetist Dr. Christopher Bade, assistant professor of music at OBU.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. in the university's Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel.

Bade will perform "Duettino Concertante" by Hyacinthe Klose, "Caprice" by Darius Milhaud and "Cantabile" by Noel-Gallon. He also will play "Frolic" by Albert Beaucamp, "Petite Suite" by Arthur Honegger, "Premiere Fantaisie" by Georges Marty and "Quintet in A, K.581" by Mozart.

The concert is unusual because it is comprised primarily of early 20th-century French works, Bade said. His CD, "Concert Pieces," with Bade and OBU faculty pianist Ann Milliman Gipson, also features music from the unique musical era.

Bade will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Carol Bell, associate professor of piano at OBU. Bade's wife, Michelle, band director at Grove School, will assist on clarinet.

Bade also will perform several numbers with the Red River String Quartet. The quartet members, George Figueroa, Ruth Klein, Mary Ferstl and Sarah Kapps are graduate students from the University of Oklahoma and hold principal positions in OBU's new Shawnee Community Orchestra.

The concert is free and open to the public.
