Students Receive Computer Science Awards

Computer science students from Oklahoma Baptist University took top honors at the Association of Information Technology Professionals Regional Competition in Lubbock, Texas, recently.

The competition requires students to solve programming problems with computer languages in a specified amount of time. The judges score students according to the correctness and style of their solution.

Ashley Miller, OBU senior computer science major from Midwest City, took first place in the C++ competition. Junior computer science major Nathan Sweaney of Sedan, Kan., took third place in the Visual Basic competition.

Juniors Matthew Green of Calvin, Paul Tessman of Oklahoma City, and Amanda Thompson of Fredicksburg, Texas, and seniors Michael Hagedon of Tucson, Ariz., Louise Manning of Denison, Texas, Timothy McDonald of Hollis, and Janet Wilson of Oklahoma City, also attended the conference.

Faculty sponsors Dale Hanchey, McCasland associate professor of computer science and Dr. Cindy Meyer Hanchey, associate professor of computer science, accompanied the students.
