Student Shows Air on Shawnee Cable

September 7, 2001

Students in the telecommunication department at Oklahoma Baptist University will present two student-produced shows on Shawnee's Charter Communications channel 30 each week.

A new talk show "Quiet Hours" begins Sept. 11 and will air at 10 p.m. each Thursday through Dec. 6. The show will be re-run at 10 a.m. on Fridays.

Adam Copus, "Quiet Hours" producer, said the show will be modeled after late-night talk shows with a pre-produced segment, joke segment, and a featured guest and musician.

Copus is a junior telecommunication major from Carnegie.

"News 30," OBU's award-winning news program, begins Sept. 11, and will air at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday through Dec. 4.

Erin Gray, co-producer for the show, said in addition to traditional segments of news, weather, and sports, News 30 is adding a financial segment, "Good Sense," to give college students money-spending pointers and an editorial segment called "Soap Box."

Gray, a junior telecommunication major from Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kyle Isenhower, a junior telecommunication major from Claremore are the co-producers.

"We want to make this year more eye catching," Gray said. "Our goal is to appeal to the students and get them interested in watching."

OBU students also will broadcast select Bison basketball games through Bison Sports Network.
