September 19, 2000

More than 100 college, university and career representatives and 25 high schools will convene at the eleventh annual Shawnee Area-Wide College and Career Fair Monday night, Sept. 25 and Tuesday morning, Sept.26 at Oklahoma Baptist University's Noble Complex.

The fair is open to all high school juniors and seniors and their parents. Monday's session begins at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday's program starts at 8:30 a.m. Transportation is available from many high schools.

"The focus of the College and Career Fair is to provide a service to area high school students and their families," Michael Cappo, dean of admissions, said. "The purpose is to help them as they make their college plans."

Representatives from universities and colleges from Oklahoma schools as well as schools in Texas, California, Louisiana, Indiana, Missouri, Vermont, New Mexico, Florida, Kansas, and New York will be available to answer students' questions.

Tinker Federal Credit Union, BancFirst and Bank of Oklahoma among others will be at the fair to discuss career opportunities with students.

Several thousand students and their parents are expected to attend the fair.

"Students come from all over Oklahoma," Cappo said.

The fair is free and open to the public.
