OBU Teacher Education Students Achieve High Pass Rates

July 3, 2000

Oklahoma Baptist University's teacher education program continues to make an impact on testing averages across the state.

For the spring administration of the Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators program, 40 of the 44 OBU teacher candidates that took the examination passed.

Five of the six teacher candidates that took the Oklahoma General Education Test passed. For the Oklahoma Subject Area Tests, 22 of the 23 OBU teacher candidates passed.

Twenty-nine of 31 teacher candidates from OBU passed the Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination.

Dr. Pam Robinson, director of teacher education and associate professor of education at OBU, praised teachers and students for the high success rates.

"I commend the students' knowledge and skill levels but also the instruction they have been given in their Unified Studies courses and teacher education classes," Robinson said. "Our faculty do an excellent job of preparing them."
