Reeder Named Dean of OBU Paul Dickinson School of Business

Dr. Dan Reeder, who has served as interim dean of Oklahoma Baptist University's Paul Dickinson School of Business since Aug. 1, 1999, has been named dean of the school, announced OBU President Mark Brister.

"Dan has been an outstanding faculty member and has served effectively as interim dean during the current academic year," said Dr. Joe Bob Weaver, OBU vice president for academic affairs. "He is well respected by faculty and students alike. I believe he will provide visionary leadership to the school of business."

Reeder became interim dean after Dr. Robert Babb resigned the dean's post at the conclusion of the 1998-99 academic year. In addition to serving as interim dean, Reeder has continued to teach classes and serve as advisor for OBU's Templeton Investment Society.

Reeder said he looks forward to helping shape the future of the business school.

"We must continue to develop innovative programs to meet the needs of the ever-changing business environment," he said. "We will remain committed to developing Christian business leaders by providing our students with the best educational experience possible."

Reeder joined the OBU faculty in 1991 as Cargill assistant professor of finance. He was presented with the University's Promising Teacher Award in 1995.

He previously taught as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma State University, where he was named Graduate Assistant Teacher of the Year. He also worked as an internal auditor at Security National Bank in Sapulpa and as a part-time music director and youth director for several churches.

Reeder earned a bachelor's degree and MBA degree from the University of Tulsa and completed a Ph.D. degree at OSU in 1993.

Reeder's wife, Stacy, is a graduate of OBU. They have three children, Dane, Raye, and Meg.
